Walker Boot (CAM) Walker
Description: Walking boot with inflatable pneumatic bladdes to maintain contact for stability
Function: Total contact fit to reduce edema and shear forces with pneumatic bladder feature; Immobilizes leg like a cast, but can be removed to evaluate wounds; 90 degree fixation at ankle to reduce motion
Indication: Acute injuries (ligament sprains/tears); Post-operative stabilization or support; Fractures
AFO Conventional Metal
Description: Double upright metal bars with ankle joints; Ankle joints are attached to a stirrup that may be attached to shoe or footplate; Custom fabricated to tracing of patient’s leg;
Function: Provides control to knee and ankle joints
Indication: Patients with weakened lower extremity and fluctuating edema, sensory or visual impairment, unable to tolerate total contact of plastic AFO or patient preference.
