CROW (Charcot Restraint Orthotic Walker)

Description: Custom plastic bi-valve boot with rocker bottom sole; Can be made with custom insole; Fully padded

Function: Maintain foot and ankle stability; Prevent shear forces; protect limb; prescribed for patients who have foot ulcers or insensate feet; can be modified to unload weight at specific areas to grant opportunity for ulcer healing

Indication: Plantar ulcers; Charcot foot; Post-operative foot/ankle edema

AFO Solid Ankle (CUSTOM)

Description: Contoured plastic; Custom molded to patient model; trimlines anterior to ankle to help control medial/lateral stability; optional custom insole

Function: Maintains ankle in neutral position during all phases of gait; Subtalar stabilization

Indication: Foot drop/weak dorsiflexion and/or weak plantarflexion; Ligament injury about the ankle; Mild knee instability

Description: Two-piece Contoured plastic orthosis connected with joints at the ankle level; Custom molded to patient model; optional custom insole

Function: Provides Medial/lateral stability and plantarflexion/dorsiflexion control; Typically used to allow dorsiflexion and limit plantarflexion by means of a Plantarflexion stop; joints may assist or limit both dorsiflexion/plantar flexion

Description: Custom plastic ankle foot orthosis with anterior shell; Custom molded to patient

Function: Decrease forces on plantar weight-bearing surface of heel, ankle, foot

Indication: Heal ulcers; Calcanectomy; Plantar skin graft; Severe foot/ankle trauma

Walker Boot (CAM) Walker

Description: Walking boot with inflatable pneumatic bladdes to maintain contact for stability

Function: Total contact fit to reduce edema and shear forces with pneumatic bladder feature; Immobilizes leg like a cast, but can be removed to evaluate wounds; 90 degree fixation at ankle to reduce motion

Indication: Acute injuries (ligament sprains/tears); Post-operative stabilization or support; Fractures

AFO Conventional Metal

Description: Double upright metal bars with ankle joints; Ankle joints are attached to a stirrup that may be attached to shoe or footplate; Custom fabricated to tracing of patient’s leg;

Function: Provides control to knee and ankle joints

Indication: Patients with weakened lower extremity and fluctuating edema, sensory or visual impairment, unable to tolerate total contact of plastic AFO or patient preference.
